The merchandising of model homes and working side by side with San Antonio builders is at the head of our business. However, we offer a variety of services including new home surface selections, remodeling, custom draperies, faux finishes, space planning, furniture selection and much, much more. This award-winning designer is proud to celebrate 15 years in business, serving the building and private clientele communities in the San Antonio area. After receiving her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A & M University, she found her true passion in interior design and pursued an education at St. Mary’s University. From there, she has worked in many capacities in the design realm starting her career at a local design firm and moving onto managing the design center of a prestigious homebuilder and finally owner and designer at KD Interiors. Karen is an Allied ASID member as well as belonging to the Greater San Antonio Area Builders Association, Texas Builders Association and National Association of Home Builders. She is dedicated to excellent design with outstanding customer service.
Amanda Hobbs hails from the small town of Lampasas, TX. Amanda has always been interested in arts of all kinds and putting her creativity to good use. She graduated in 2012 with a degree and license in Radiation Therapy. While waiting for a job in the medical field, she secured a position as a design assistant for a small design firm in Midland, TX. After only a few weeks she knew that design was her passion and life’s purpose. Amanda graduated from the New York Institute of Art and Design in 2015 and has been devoted to helping her client’s visions come to life ever since. Amanda and her family moved to Boerne, TX, in March of 2016, and is the newest member and very excited to be a part of the KDI team.
Lindsey was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. From an early age, she has always been surrounded by family members in the new home building industry. Growing up in this life style and industry, she grew an appreciation and desire for the world of color and design. In 2009, she graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. While attending to her course studies, Lindsey continued to work full time in the hospitality and service industry. Upon Graduating and while looking for an interior design position, she was promoted to a management position where she worked after college. She’s committed to helping her clients obtain their dreams in a cost effective manner. She is looking forward to growing and working long term for the Karen Dietz Interior’s team!
Melissa Hoppes was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design. Although, she interned and worked in the commercial field of interior design for several years she has always had an interest in residential design. Melissa received her interior design license in 2009 and is a member of IIDA. She has designed many of her friends and families’ homes and then she met her husband whose background is in custom home construction. They started retrofitting and flipping houses along with designing and building homes for clients. She prides herself on listening to her clients requests and providing solutions. She is very excited to be a part of such a great team at Karen Dietz Interiors.
Shelly is a graduate of the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design. She began her career as a designer for Brinker International in Dallas working on various restaurant concepts. She spent nine years working in multiple areas of the restaurant design and construction industries. While taking some time to focus on her family, she realized her passion for residential design and enjoys helping clients create beautiful and comfortable spaces. Her goal is to provide the best customer service while creating a positive design experience for her clients.
Sylke has been in the home furnishings, lighting and accessory business for over 25 years. She has always had a passion for designing spaces, whether that was merchandising retail spaces, working in the furniture industry, or helping residential clients with remodels. She took her passion and knowledge of the industry and expanded it by completing the St. Mary’s University Design Program, specializing in residential and commercial design. While working in the design industry Sylke realized her passion was for window coverings and treatments. She puts her clients’ needs first and will suggest window treatments according to your personal preferences, taking into consideration directional sunlight, glare issues, dual functioning spaces, pets, children, and your budget. From Custom Shutters, Blinds, Hunter Douglas products, Drapery and Soft treatments, Sylke will fit window coverings to your budget and style whether that would be Contemporary, Modern Urban, Traditional, Transitional, Old World, Hill Country, Rustic or a combination of these. Sylke is an Allied member of the American Society of Interior Design (ASID) and Hunter Douglas Certified.
Shannon is a Texas native who grew up in both the Dallas and San Antonio areas. Shannon has been an administrative professional for more than 15 years. While she has worked for non-profit, corporate, and small business, building and growing small business is where her heart is at. She has worked with a gamut of businesses and positions over the course of her career, with her greatest expertise being organization, building efficient work processes and office management. Her wish is to combine her knowledge and experience in these areas to continue the growth and success of the business. Shannon is thrilled to be a part of the Karen Dietz Interiors team.
